Our Story

Henok and Hanatsi are the driving forces behind Massawa Trading Co with a focus on connections to East Africa, specifically Ethiopia (Henok) and Kenya (Hanatsi).

"We always wanted to be involved with our mother land and have a significant impact on boosting economic trade by unlocking markets. My wife Nadia is Kenyan raised at a young age in the country. Henok was born in Ethiopia and speaks the language of Amharic. I Myself born and raised in Winnipeg to two Eritrean parents with many trips as a young boy back home always had and always have a strong connection to my roots. In the beginning we started with importing Ethiopian coffee to Canada. With coffee we were blessed to meet farmers from all walks of life. From there not only did the coffee brew so did our talks between each other to one day export Canadian grains to East Africa."
